Haiti Earthquake. Please help Haiti NOW!

On the 12 January 2010, a massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake devasted Haiti just ten miles from the capital city of Port-au-Prince. More than ever UHUK is mobilizing to help as many people as possible in Haiti.

An update on actions taken by UHUK:

* we have been working around the clock to find out information about relatives and friends in the area and share information within the Haitian community in the UK
* working to locate a warehouse to store materials donated
* identify a shipping company that will enable us to send out clothing, shoes, medical supplies, and school materials to as many affected areas as possible
* organizing fundraisers to occur in the local community. Please check Events section for further details
* liaising with community organizations who are keen to partner with us to support Haiti
* keeping the media informed of recent developments with family and friends in Haiti
* responding to queries from the Haitian community and the British public who want to support relief efforts in Haiti

We welcome donations from any of the items listed above and/or financial support.

Thank you for your support thus far. Please help us to help the survivors of Haiti. Make a donation today!

Volunteers needed!!!

This is a message to keep everyone updated on our efforts to assist Haiti following the devastating Earthquake there on January 12th.

As mentioned previously, we have been working closely with United Haitians in the UK (www.uhuk.org) to assist them with their Earthquake appeal. The response of our people so far has been fantastic. People have been coming forward in large numbers to donate tents, sleeping bags, clothes at drop off locations around London for UHUK to send on to Haiti.

The issue now is that we have a lack of wo/man power to help get these supplies transported to the main warehouse in South London. And this is where you come in!

We are contacting you now to ask if you would be able to give some of your time to help make the UHUK Appeal run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Specifically, we are looking for the following:

- Drivers with vehicles (the larger the better) to transport items from drop-off points in London to the main warehouse in South London.

- Drivers who have fully comprehensive insurance and can drive vans/ minibuses

- People who have large vehicles that can be borrowed for short periods

In addition, we need assistance with the following:

- Packing and sorting items at drop-off locations around London

- Distributions of Leaflets and Flyers around London

- Promoting Fundraising Events

To get involved, simply reply to this email and let us know what area you would like to help out on. Alternatively, you can ring Ely on 07916 327 728 for further information.

We very much hope that many of you will come forward and offer practical assistance to our Haitian brothers and sisters in their time of very great need.

With peace and blessings,

ADAP TEAM

Check the UHUK website for information on the current drop-off points: http://uhuk.org/haiti_earthquake.html. You can also give financially at their website here: http://uhuk.org/donate.html.

Description
Greetings!

United Haitians In The UK (www.uhuk.com ) in conjunction with Sun Bailante (www.sunbailante.com ) invite all to their first Fundraising Event to raise much needed funds for our brothers and sisters who's lives have been devastated by the January 12th Earthquake.

For this special night the energetic ‘Ziloka’ band will perform live Gwoka, traditional music of the African Diaspora. Their unique drumming and dancing will transport you to the heart to the French Caribbean. Later Frenglish Connexion will set the stage in alight with their blend of Hip-Hop, Reggae and Soul. They have recently played to support Bennie Man, Admiral T and Saïn Supa Crew.

The Sun Bailante DJ’s will make it tropical mixing the hottest Haitian, Latin, African and Global sounds including hip-shaking Kompa, Zouk, Dancehall, Soca, Salsa, Reggeaton, Coupe Decale, Kizomba and Latin house.

Doors ar efrom 9pm to 3am and the entrance is £10 on the door all night. Please note that ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the proceeds from this event will go to shipping medical supplies, clothes and other provisions to our Haiti as well as re-building schools in the country.

UHUK is a charity with the goal to make a positive contribution in the development of Haiti, and to keep the Haitian culture alive in the United Kingdom. We will financially support worthwhile, non-governmental, and sustainable educational projects throughout Haiti with an emphasis on children’s school fees, uniforms and supplies.

Entering through a discreet entrance behind Angel tube station you will enter a secret world hidden in a Victorian warehouse home to art exhibitions, concerts and various private parties the latest one held by the film director Spike Lee.

For more info on the event please email sunbailante@gmail.com

For more info on the charity and fund raising please email info@uhuk.org

Please make sure this event is packed-out by sharing this information with everyone you know.

Peace!
